May 01

On May 01 as our team was heading home from the day we had the first glimpse of a well loved ḰENES (humpback whale), Divot! Divot has had at least 5 calves, and has returned to the Salish Sea in May for at least the past 6 years (according to Spyhopper). We took a few photos and left her to fill her belly after a long journey from the tropics.

On May 05 our team came across Divot again, accompanied by an unknown ḰENES.

On both days, Divot was foraging without any commercial vessel presence, however we flew our whale flag and intercepted the path of a recreational vessel transiting towards her on May 05.

Welcome home, Divot!

All photos are taken with a 200-600 zoom lens.
