KELȽOLEMEĆEN at S,ḴŦAḴ
April 22, 2026
On April 22 our team was attending our Georgina Point hydrophone site for scheduled repairs. We were putting our tender away after rowing back to QENTOLYEN1 from shore after attending the hydrophone when we spotted dorsal fins in front of us. We completed what we needed to do and untied QENTOLYEN1 from mooring in perfect time to wave our whale flag at a ferry that was leaving berth at Sturdies Bay. We ID’d these whales quickly as the T065Bs due to matriarch “Chunk”’s distinct notch at the base of her dorsal fin. The whales travelled south in Active Pass and were free from vessels following. We tied up at the Miners Bay dock and watched them round the corner of Helen Point, near XIXNEŚETEṈ.
