Watching KELŁOLEMEĆEN (Killer Whales) from shore
August 18, 2025
On Monday August 18, our team was off the water upgrading equipment when we got word of killer whales heading north past Sidney. We headed out in our truck to a spot from shore where we though we’d get ahead of them. Just in time, the whales came as we made it to the beach and we watched them pass while creating no acoustic or physical disturbance. Once the whales had passed we went to another lookout, and watched them as they headed west in Satellite Channel. These encounters from land are exciting for our team we we get to witness things from a different perspective, and are at ease knowing we aren’t causing any disturbance to our relatives of the deep. These whales have been identified as the T037As, a pod we have seen a couple times this month!
