KELȽOLEMEĆEN and ḰENES (Gray Whale)

July 13, 2026

On July 13th, the QENTOL,YEN crew had an incredible day on the water near D'arcy Island. While travelling to the area to conduct kelp mapping, we encountered a Gray Whale and took the opportunity to observe it from a safe distance. We also helped alert nearby vessels that were travelling in the whale's direction by flying our whale warning flag so they could slow down and give it space.
Later in the day, we had another amazing wildlife encounter with a pod of Killer Whales near Sidney isl! It was a memorable day on the water and a great reminder of the incredible marine life that lives in our territory.

All photos are taken with a 200-600 zoom lens.
