Gray Whale in the Saanich Inlet

On November 05 while conducting pinniped surveys in the Saanich Inlet, we encountered a ḰENES (Gray Whale) near SENI,NES (Senanus Island). We tied up our vessel on at the Tsartlip boat ramp and watched them travel through the Bay from land. Soon after, we headed North as we received a report of killer whales heading South towards The Inlet.

This was a special encounter for our team as it was our first Gray whale encounter of the year!
