Possible Nike

On September 16th, while travelling to conduct transects around the southern Gulf Islands, we heard reports of an entangled humpback whale in the Strait of Georgia. We hoped to assist the whale protection unit in finding it. During our search, we can across two humpbacks identified as Fallen Knight and the other as possibly Nike, whom we spotted off Point Roberts. They appeared to be travelling north in the Strait of Georgia. Upon reviewing the photos, neither whale seemed to be entangled. We were fortunate enough to cover more area while working with Strait Watch, Guardians covering north of Mayne, and Strait Watch covering south of Saturna. Although we didn’t find the entangled humpback, we were fortunate enough to come across these two whales.
